St. Martin, French West Indies
Trip - November 2004
St. Martin was chosen as
a vacation spot this year. What a wonderful trip it turned
out to be!!!
Geographics and History
The island is divided by two world powers: the Dutch and
French. The line between the two is quite blurred. The only
indication that you are on either side is by a road sign.
Euros, and US dollars are widely accepted anywhere on the
island. With only one main road, one cannot get lost on
this 36 square mile piece of paradise.

on the island, you can see this!! View from the Jeep

Things to Do
Plenty!!! One can choose to just plain and simply lay on
the beach. With many beaches to choose from, one can have
a clothing optional relaxation moment as well. I chose to
parasail and get a great view of the island. What I did
not get to do is ride a horse on a trail that ends on the
beach and into the water. That would have been fun.
Things to Eat / Where
to Eat
Lobster is a tourist's common favorite. Especially
mine!!! I cannot complain about the Mahi Mahi as well!!!
It was delicious. With plenty of fresh seafood to choose
from, St. Martin is definitely the spot for that!!!
I recommend a quite restaurant called La Locanda.
tel: 05 90 27 58 25 - The food was perfect and the service
was even better than that!!!

Many such small cafe places. These are the places
that just produce the best foods!!! |
Choosing Where to
Stay
Le Meridian was my choice. Being the only 4 star hotel on
the island, it offered the most!! It has a private beach
and plenty of other needed amenities. There are plenty of
other places to stay but the views cannot even begin to
compare. The Anse Marcel is an area that requires quite
a heart since the roads are tight and a good driver is definitely
needed!!!
